Camera Agnostic

Elements of Design, HIRBlog

In my short history of shooting motion I have owned a NikonD90, a Canon 5dmk2, a Sony EX1, a Sony Fs100, I have in my sites a small camera like the NEX5n or maybe GH2, a Go-Pro, and if Im lucky a Scarlet.

What we see is a fast changeover of camera bodies and a wild variance in camera size.

When Designing HIR parts I take full account of camera sizes and lens heights but try and not pin specific products to the dimension of a camera.

I hope this makes HIR a camera support system that will offer value over time due t0 its dimensional flexibility.

One thing I do believe is that cameras will get small and lighter, witness the high performance BMC

This shrinkage lead by technology will make small HIR components even more relevant to your future camera

The only component that I make that is camera specific is the 5dmk2 backplate – there is logic to that, but I will go into that at a later date.
